Sorry to post in points...today is one of those days. Noah threw up 4 times yesterday and once this morning whilst I was on my way out the door to the support group.. Nightmare!
Pedi ( or head of peas as mum called him and which from now on...so will I) Noel our peas guy is sorting out my shopping list for Noah, ie a pump to feed him as I believe the gravity feeding not helping the vomiting. Anyway....
Pauline...
Probiotics...ace for FPIES..
http://www.culturelle.com
Is the probiotic everyone with FPIES raves about. However there have been studies that suggest that probiotics make the fructose malabsorption worse...haven't have chance to look into this further yet. There is a FAQ section of the culturelle site that I keep meaning to look at.
Almond milk on the list of no for now. People usually stay clear of the comment allergies first when introducing food...just incase. Nuts would be one.
Neonate is what he's on now..and after speaking with the clinical team at nutricia who make Neocate they believe he is on the best one for him at this time. The advanced formula they make is for babies over 12 months...but Noah is still so small is is better on the formula for under 12 months until he reaches a normal weight.
Yakult he is allergic too.
GAPS looks very interesting. Really need to read more..need time :-) ESP as FPIES usually runs hand in hand with celiac disease. ( this is what the Gastro guy told me...they can't test Noah for it though until he's eaten gluten for 6 weeks and that's not likely to happen for years.
Mum...
Hospital think we should trial amaranth grains, millet, barley in hospital. Noah has had his biggest reaction to oatmeal and corn so at the moment they are suggestion no grain trials without medical supervision. However as she said this is only a guideline. She said one mum had a child with severe FPIES and one say he got hold of his brothers cup and had cows milk. No reaction! Was the first thing he passed! She said whilst I am not recommending this it does go to show that with FPIES it's hard to find a pattern in it all. I am soooo tempted to try millet puffs...most of the kids on the blogs can eat them. I won't for now though of course. Esp not so close to getting the ok to fly ( tomorrow!)
Neonate do a solid option...I got it...its first ingredient is cornflour so nnnoooooo for us.
Great blogs... There is one lady
http://babybeesfpiestestkitchen.blogspot.com/
Who has nearly cracked bread with none of the top eight horrible things in. Now she is working on a corn free version too which would be great.
Thank you for reading hope that all made sense ...no time to read back over my nonsense.
Ps you need a team name or team sprout will stick :-)
